  7. The ISODE maintainers are pleased to announce an upgrade for the SNMP
  8. software found in ISODE-7.0. This is an upgrade to just the SNMP
  9. software making negligable changes to the ISODE-7.0 OSI stacks. This is
  10. an interim release of this package and contains several new SNMP
  11. features, listed below.

  22. 1. MIB checking
  23.  
  24. Mosy has had several bug fixes made.  It now is somewhat "tighter" in its
  25. analysis of MIBs.

  27. 2. New MIBs
  28.  
  29. This summer's batch of MIBs were loaded into the package for the aid of
  30. people writing management station tools.  The default environment now
  31. contains 1717 objects from 27 MIB modules.  The management tools
  32. normally read compiled object information during initialization.
  33. Although this is relatively fast, it can introduce some delay if a large
  34. number of objects are read.  To remedy this, there is a special new form
  35. of MIB compiling requiring virtually zero initialization time.  This
  36. technique is now used by both the snmpi and SNMP-capable gawk programs.

  38. 3. 4BSD agent

  40. The previous SNMP agent for 4BSD supported very few writable variables.
  41. The new agent will allow those variables, supported by the 4BSD kernel, and
  42. marked read-write in the Internet-standard MIB, to be set.
